The Ford Escape operates with a gas-powered engine and you have a couple of choices. One is a 1.5-liter EcoBoost® that delivers 181 horsepower and 190 pound-feet of torque. Fuel efficiency is excellent for the class, coming in at 28 MPG in the city and 34 MPG on the highway. The available upgrade is a 2.0-liter EcoBoost® engine with a higher output of 250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque.
If you'd like the higher fuel efficiency of a hybrid, the Ford Escape offers two options. One is a 2.5-liter pure hybrid and the other is the 2.5-liter plug-in hybrid, with both generating 165 horsepower and 155 pound-feet of torque. The 2.5-liter hybrid gets an impressive EPA-estimated 44 MPG in the city and 37 MPG on the highway, while the plug-in hybrid provides an EPA-estimated 105 combined MPG-equivalent. So the Ford Escape with the gas-powered engine provides more horsepower and torque while the hybrids deliver greater fuel efficiency.

Both the Ford Escape and the Escape Hybrid provide spacious interior cabins and both have seating for up to five people. Textured cloth upholstery come standard in the Escape and if you upgrade to the Platinum trim, you'll be seated on faux-leather surfaces. The Ford Escape gives you 104 cubic feet of passenger space, and 65.4 cubic feet of maximum cargo space, which is enough to hold 21 carry-on suitcases if you fold down the rear seats.
The interior of the Escape Hybrid Is nicely designed and comes with an abundance of space for people in both the front and back seats. The Escape Hybrid comes with standard cloth and vinyl seat upholstery, and you can upgrade to genuine leather. The Escape Hybrid provides 102.2 cubic feet of passenger space and 60.8 cubic feet of available maximum cargo room. Like the gas-powered Escape, the hybrid has room for 21 carry-on suitcases.

The gas-powered Ford Escape and the hybrid both come with Ford's SYNC®3 multimedia system with an impressive array of features. The list starts with a standard 8.0-inch touch screen, an 8.0-inch digital instrument cluster display, wireless Apple® and Android Auto™, satellite radio and a six-speaker stereo system. Other standard features in both models include dual-zone automatic climate control and proximity keyless entry.
Available technology upgrades in the gas-powered Escape and the Escape Hybrid include a 13.2-inch touch screen, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless device charging and a premium Bang & Olufsen stereo system with 10 speakers. Other available features in both compact SUVs include remote start, an automatically-dimming rearview mirror and a panoramic roof.
